Carol (Olson) Myhre, 68, of Mankato, formerly of Windom, died April 28, 2018, at Keystone Place at LaValle Fields in Hugo, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Pastor Kathy Brandt officiating.
Special music will be provided by Dustin Stevens, pianist.
Casket bearers will be Carol's family.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Carol Christine Olson was born Sept. 28, 1949, to Donald C. and Helen (Martin) Olson in Windom. She grew up in Windom and graduated from Windom High School in 1967.
In 1967, Carol married John Larson. They moved to Mankato where they raised two children, Chad and Christine.
Carol graduated from Mankato State University in 1992 and earned her master's degree in speech pathology and communications disorders.
She worked at the Mankato hospital and area nursing home care centers performing speech therapy. She also taught in the communications disorders department at MSU, Mankato until 2012, when she retired.
Carol enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking, gardening, camping, traveling and biking. She loved and respected nature and passed that love and respect of the outdoors to her children and grandchildren.
She also had a passion for music, performing in several musical groups in high school and singing in the Minnesota Valley Chorale for many years. She also enjoyed dancing and attending the Blues Festival in Duluth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Josephine (Lykken) Olson; a sister, Linda Challis; brothers-in-law, Michael Challis and Bob Travens; and former husband, Michael Benson.
Survivors include her children, Chad Larson of Minneapolis and Christine (Chad) Ringen of Centerville; two grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Travens of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Susan (Jim) Gustner of Little Falls; and former husband, John Larson of Janesville.
