Gerald Parker, 77, of Storden died Dec. 24, 2017, at his home in Storden.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden with Pastor Marcelle Jensen officiating.
Special music will be provided by Elizabeth Johnson, organist and vocalist.
Honorary bearers will be Gerald's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burial will be held at a later date at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Storden.
Visitation will be held Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church in Storden.
Gerald Lynn Parker was born May 14, 1940, to Carol Calvin and Alice (Solomonson) Parker in Amo Township of Cottonwood County. He was baptized at Amo Lutheran Church in rural Storden and later confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden.
He attended Storden Public Schools.
From a young age, Gerald worked in many areas, including installing underground telephone cable for Shepman Company and for the City of Storden in its maintenance department.
In 1991, Gerald met Isabelle "Belle" Ayers. They were married in 2014 at their home in Storden.
In 2014, Gerald was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Gerald was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden.
He enjoyed helping Glen Solomonson deliver Christmas gifts to nursing homes and helping people by setting up care packages for victims during disasters.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Calvin and Alice Parker; brothers: Derold, Jimmy and David in infancy; brothers-in-law, Charles Domeier and Richard Ayres; and sister-in-law, Darlene Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Belle Parker of Storden; six children: Greg (Nancy) Parker of Belle Plaine, Tammy Huseby of Redwood Falls, Paul (Paula) Parker of Storden, Dean (Jessica) Parker of Westbrook, Clay (Leslie) Parker of Walnut Grove and Beth Parker of Sauk Centre; three step-children: Shannon Oleson of Fairmont; Stacey (Mike) Groen of Little Rock, Iowa; and Heidi (Jeremy) Anderson of Baltic, S.D.; 27 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jack (Linda) Parker of Brooklyn Park, Janet (Douglas) Johnson of Storden and Kathy Domeier of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Wanda Parker of George, Iowa; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Bill (Marlys) Blanchette and Charlie (Louise) Taylor, all of Storden; and Paul (Jean) Leopold of Heron Lake.
