Dale Rutzen, 86, of Mankato died July 2, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Funeral services were Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. John Peterson officiating.
Interment was at Hersey Cemetery in Brewster.
Mankato Mortuary of Mankato is handling the funeral arrangements.
Dale Leslie Rutzen was born Sept. 10, 1930, to Frank and Mae (Pierce) Rutzen in Worthington. He attended rural schools before graduating from Brewster High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
In 1951, Dale married Irene Karschnik. He was employed with the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Mankato for 31 years, retiring in 1990.
Dale enjoyed bowling, playing cards and pool, sports (he was an avid Vikings and Twins fan), fishing and spending time with his pets.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Rutzen.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Irene; a daughter, Darene Rutzen; brothers, David (Wanda) Rutzen of Worthington and Dennis (Jean) Rutzen of Pelican Rapids; sisters-in-law, Carol Rutzen of Brewster, Alice McCarty of Sibley, Iowa, Donna Karschnik of Dundee and Muriel Karschnik of Worthington; his dog, Murphy, and cat, Lola Mae.
