Doris Wallert, 73, of Mt. Lake died March 8, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4 to 7 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom.
Honorary bearers will be all of Doris' grandchildren.
Burial will take place at a later date at Butterfield Cemetery in Butterfield.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Doris Luella Smith was born Jan. 20, 1944, to Bert and Hazel (Hystad) Smith. She was the oldest of three girls and also had an older brother. She grew up on a farm south of Willmar, attended country school until sixth grade, then attended and graduated from Willmar High School.
After graduating, she worked as a telephone operator.
In 1962, Doris married Francis Wallert. They lived in Olivia until 1967 when they and their four boys moved to Mt. Lake.
In the 1970s, Doris worked for Butterfield Fields, The Toro Company and Land O' Lakes until the plant closed. For the last 24 years, she has been with The Toro Company.
Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; and two sisters.
Survivors include her seven children: Frank (Deb) Wallert, Mike (Tonya) Wallert, Karla (David) Ertz and Karyn Wallert, all of Mt. Lake; Dewayne Wallert of Truman; Gary (Brandy) Wallert of Fort Worth, Texas; and Kathy (David) Gravley of Hanska; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
