Roy Schulze, 63, of Windom died Feb. 24, 2013, at Windom Area Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services were Friday at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Rev. Rod Stemme officiating.
Special music was provided by Paul Schulze, organist; and Dick Schulze, vocalist.
Windom casket bearers were Lenis Defries, Levi Schweigert, Spencer Gunhus, Kevin Gerdes, Eric Fitzpatrick and Eddie Rathman.
Pipestone casket bearers were Bill Schulze, Steve Schulze, Jim Schulze, Henry Schulze, Dick Schulze, Lenis Defries and Greg Williamson.
Honorary bearer was Marlene Karssen.
Military honors were provided by Windom American Legion Post 206 and Pipestone American Legion Post 135.
Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom and Hartquist Funeral Home of Pipestone handled the funeral arrangements.
Roy Merle Schulze was born May 23, 1949, to Paul and Mildred (Calkins) Schulze in Pipestone. He was baptized and later confirmed at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone.
He received his education in Pipestone Public Schools, graduating in 1967. Roy attended Pipestone Vocational School for one year and enlisted in the National Guard in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
In 1972, Roy married JoAnn Wilkin in Windom. They were blessed with two children, Jarrett and Stacy, before the marriage was later dissolved.
Roy lived in Windom for many years and worked as an assembly lineman for over 40 years at The Toro Company.
Roy was a member of American Legion posts in Windom and Pipestone.
He enjoyed biking, hiking, canoeing, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, music, classic cars and cooking out. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his dog, Skylar.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Donald Schulze.
Survivors include his two children, Jarrett (Sheerie) Schulze of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Stacy Schulze and Eddie Rathman of St. James; three grandchildren; six siblings: Jim (Carole) Schulze of Edgerton; Dick (Dianne) Schulze and Steve (Kim) Schulze, all of Pipestone; Hank (Sandi) Schulze of Gary, S.D.; Marlene (Pat) Karssen of Chandler; and Bill (Joan) Schulze of Sioux Falls; and "daughter" Ginger (Eric) Fitzpatrick and children of Rochester.
