In 1941, Bertha married Lester Westerman at Bertha's home. They farmed south of Windom until 1950 when they moved to a farm in the Storden-Jeffers area.
After Lester's death in 1972, Bertha continued living on the farm until marrying Clarence Gerdes in Worthington in 1975. Clarence died in 1977.
Bertha remained in Worthington for a short time until moving to Windom where she married Lloyd Mix in the early 1980s. Lloyd died in 1984.
Later in life, Bertha enjoyed the companionship of Harold Rossow for many years until his death.
Bertha was a longtime member of American Lutheran Church in Windom. She also was involved in the birthday club and neighborhood extension club.
She enjoyed visiting Idaho, crocheting pot holders, afghans for her grandchildren and baby blankets for each of her great-grandchildren, visiting with friends at McDonald's, Hardee's and the senior center and, most-of-all, spending time with family.
In addition to her husbands, Bertha was preceded in death by a son, Ed Westerman; two brothers, Raymond and Elmer Lamaack; and three sisters: Lillian Schuknecht, Glennie Rupp and Grace Stoever.
