Farewell to the boss

Helping make Windom better
Three years ago the Windom Board of Education put together goals we wanted to accomplish for the school district.
One of our goals was related to facility use and space needs. We had taken five steps in order to complete this goal.
We knew, as a board, this goal would take time and energy to complete. And, we knew it would take more than one year to accomplish.

Goodbye, Coach
There were many in Windom who knew Ron Meyer better than I, but I was privileged enough to first get to know Ron in his final years as Windom's head football coach.
I was sports editor for Ron's last four seasons as the Eagles' head grid coach (1984-87) and he was always a pleasure to work with.

Riverfest committee fine-tunes plan for parade, key events
Every May at about this time, I glance at the calendar and offer the same reaction:
"I cannot believe Riverfest is right around the corner."
It is no less stunning this time around. As I write this, Riverfest is less than four weeks away.

Spring dispersal is important to local wildlife
The Harris's sparrows feeding on the ground below my bird feeders, the robins nesting on the downspouts and the wood ducks using the boxes designed for them in our maple trees are all the results of continental length migration.
