Pennsylvania rifle important to George Washington
I pretty much am in favor of the old celebrations of Abe and George. That would be Abraham Lincoln and George Washington's birthday on Feb. 12 and Feb. 22. Instead we have a Presidents Day and tend to lose a bit of the early history of our country.
The process of both to become president and the difficult paths they had need special attention when it comes to our countries foundation.

Windows update schedule
Microsoft is
hinting at an early release for its next major update of
Windows 10. If you haven't been paying attention, Microsoft releases two major Windows 10 updates a year - one in the spring and one in the fall. The spring update should be released in early April while the next update should arrive in September or October.
Major updates usually carry new or updated features to Windows 10. There are also a number of smaller updates throughout the year that fix security or other minor

State lawmakers face an array of challenges again in '18
Last year, the Republican-led legislative session turned out to be one of the most productive in recent memory.
From $650 million in tax relief for farmers, students, small business owners and seniors to the multi-billion dollar investment in roads and bridges statewide, our priority was to advance the interests of all Minnesotans.
I expect this session to build on last year's progress. As the legislature convenes this week, we get to work right away addressing the challenges facing our state.

Hitting the books
I enjoyed a little winter reading while on vacation and after returning home.
There's something about the sun shining, birds chirping and green grass all around that makes reading a book in the shade of a porch much more inviting that sitting inside and watching TV.
The same can't be said about winter in Minnesota. Nevertheless, the bug for reading on vacation carries over when I get home, so I finished a couple of very good books this winter.

America's solution: Infighting
Minutes after last week's school shooting, America went to work on its solution to everything.
Yes, the anti-gun and pro-gun folks hammered away at each other on Twitter, Facebook and everywhere else. Critics pounded the FBI, politicians, staff, even students.
Many politicians were either slow to react, or quick to jump on one side or the other. What do you suppose the Democrats and Republicans had to say about one another?
You are correct - "It's the other party's fault."
Where are our leaders? No one in the House, Senate or White House seems willing to step up and lead.

Entitlement era of high school sports claims another very surprising victim
I have come to the conclusion that parents are ruining high school sports.
I don't make that judgement lightly or without considering all options.
But when parents pour countless hours and thousands of dollars into their kids' athletic careers, they expect immediate return on their investment.
And when they aren't getting return on that investment, they complain - loudly - not directly to the coach, but to those in positions higher than the coach.
