Apple delicacies
Break time conversation focused on apples recently and how it is an excellent year for the delicious red fruit.
Obviously, the apple harvest is well underway and we got to discussing the various varieties of apples grown in this locale. Some mentioned the Braeburns, others mentioned that the honeycrisp was their favorite apple and a couple of other varieties that I wasn't familiar with also were brought up.

Southwest Minnesota may not share in large duck numbers
Well now, I'm sure that headline may bring about disagreement from some. I struggled with it, choosing that over my initial thoughts which were, "Will the mallard duck soon follow the canvasbacks demise in southwest Minnesota."
Before you cast it aside as a non-concern, think about this: For years James Ford Bell of Twin City fame and fortune ran a duck hunting camp on Heron Lake. Then he could see the writing on the Wheaties box; canvasbacks were disappearing from his famous hunting hole.
