The rest of the story
Last week, I finally had the chance to run a story I had been waiting to run for a while.
I got to talk to Dale Werner, who started up the Mt. Lake High School wrestling program in the 1967-68 school year.
Since then, there has been quite a bit of success.
Three Mt. Lake students have captured state wrestling championships - Anthony Elg, Travis Elg and Spencer Johnson. All three won state titles as part of the paired Cobra program.

So, our responses beg just one question:

Farewell to the oldest resident
In case you missed it, last week's Citizen reported that Minnesota's oldest resident, Lena Dick of Mt. Lake, recently passed away.
In her obituary, we learned that Lena became ill at the age of 1 and was not expected to live. Oh, but live she did - another 111 years!

Pairings change the area sports landscape
While there isn't any new news regarding the prospect of expanding the sports pairing between Mt. Lake Public, Mt. Lake Christian and Comfrey beyond the spring season, there has been at least one development recently.
The MLP board recently received and approved a request from MLC to pair in trapshooting, beginning with this spring's season.
