Windom treated to solid Veterans Day Program
My husband, Jim, and I attended the Veterans Day Program at the high school last Friday. It was another great program presented by the American Legion Post 206 and the Windom schools!
It's always heartwarming and emotional to hear the patriotic songs performed by the high school band and the K-12 choirs. We appreciate LaCanne Family Funeral Service and First Floral for sponsoring the program.
This year the speaker, Jan Turner, was wonderful! She lost all of her limbs due to an infection.
She spoke about character, courage and compassion, as it pertained to the veterans; but she also told the students, as well as every member of the audience, that they should pursue whatever it is they are passionate about. She described herself as differently-abled, not disabled; and it hasn't stopped her from doing whatever she is passionate about.
She was inspiring, for sure! And I think she is one of the best Veterans' Day speakers we've had here in Windom!
Others in our community showed their appreciation for the military members, too - including Godfather's Pizza, Hy-Vee, and the American Lutheran Church fall bazaar ladies!
We appreciate and remember all the veterans, active duty service members and their families for their sacrifice, dedication, and hard work!
