School was unfairly trashed in condom letter

School was unfairly trashed in condom letter
In responding to Julienne Antes letter ("Area parents ought to be angry about teen fair," March 6 Citizen), I must agree with her comment that there are benefits of abstinence in the matter of unprotected sex.
It is, in truth, the only 100% sure method to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It is also, in truth, the only contraceptive method which humans can not seem to follow - even sworn celibate Priests, let alone millions of adults.
Antes states, "Condoms do not prevent pregnancies or STD's."
My research states that is not true. If used correctly and consistently, they do the best that's possible, except in the case of HIV, since many body fluids appear to harbor and conduct the HIV virus.
Condoms are the only men's contraceptive device other then abstinence, or snip-snip.
I believe she is mistaken in her sole blaming of the school in this instance. The two community-based entities, which she also complained about, (the Southwest Crisis Center and Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health) are not the school.
The school merely housed the event, those other two entities are tasked with presenting the basic information of healthy and safe living. They also provided information on when and where to receive help if health and safety are compromised.
I'm not aware of any homeschooled students being denied education in the area of safe, healthy family planning methods, or that they do not receive any education about sex.
Trashing teachers and our American public school system seems non-productive.
If anyone believes that teens shouldn't have knowledge about condoms, good luck with that - just type "condoms" in any Internet search on any computer.
