A cliff by any other name

A cliff by any other name
The "There is no fiscal cliff" letter in the Nov. 28 Citizen made me laugh out loud, which is a healthy thing.
However, the sickness of denial is no laughing matter. The letter made no sense.
If the writer was asked to pay her portion of our $16.3 trillion debt, $250,000, she might not call it a cliff, because that is a five-letter word.
If you and I borrowed 40% of every dollar we spent we would soon run out of lenders. The only thing that keeps the mirage of wealth going is the Feds pumping $50 billion in counterfeit money into the economy every month.
The inflation caused by this crime is the primary reason gas prices are so high. The Arabs want value when they are paid. Neither George W. Bush nor Barack Obama addressed this fiasco.
When the Indians chased buffalo over a cliff, the first over died instantly. The rest were cushioned by the dead, but were crippled and later dispatched by the hunters.
The writer, along with the union bosses she is believing, will eventually go over the cliff themselves, clutching the last box of Twinkies.
It is estimated that not fixing the "the cliff" will cost every taxpayer $2,000. This is the crippling part. Death comes when our credit rating is so low no one will loan us any more money.
Tax the rich all you want. Without entitlement reform a cliff remains.
Although the looming cliff is very fixable, Obama wants to go over it in order to blame Republicans and regain the House in 2014, hence his refusal to give anything in exchange for ending the Bush tax cuts.
