Pirates roll past Hadley

Hadley 000 100 003 = 4-8-0
Windom (10)00 000 00x = 10-9-2

The Windom Pirates raced to an early lead Wednesday and cruised to victory, defeating the Hadley Buttermakers 10-4 at Island Park in a First Nite/Gopher interleague game.

The Pirates capitalized on five hits and seven walks in the bottom of the first inning to plate all of their 10 runs in the game. Devin Nielsen and Andrew Quiring started the scoring with bases-loaded walks. Noah Kloss hit an RBI double, with Nielsen scoring on a wild pitch.

Luke Gilbertson added an RBI single, Jack Mellstrom drew a bases-loaded walk, Sam Huska hit an RBI single, Nielsen drew a bases-loaded walk and Collin Lovell hit a two-run single.

That was plenty of run support for Gilbertson, who held the Buttermakers to one run on seven hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Gilbertson led the Pirate offense with four hits in the game.

The Pirates host Ruthton Sunday evening at Island Park.
