Chargers' Quade qualifies for state golf

Section 3A Tournament
One Westbrook-Walnut Grove golfer advanced to the Class A State Tournament, which will be played June 12-13 at Pebble Creek in Becker.

WWG junior Andrew Quade placed third, individually, in the Section 3A boys tournament, which concluded Wednesday at GreatLife Golf Course in Worthington. Quade shot a day-two score of 87, finishing with a 179 for the two-day tournament.

The WWG boys finished fourth in the team standings with a two-day score of 778. Murray County Central won the section boys title with a score of 728.

Senior Anthony Ross shot a second-day score of 100, finishing with a 196. Nathan Ross scored a second-day 99 to finish with a two-day total of 209. Nathan Kuehl had a day-two score of 111 to finish with a total of 217. Ethan Mischke shot a second-day score of 119 to finish the tournament with a 228. Kyle Kuehl scored a second-day total of 88 but was forced to withdraw from the first day of the tournament and therefore was ineligible to advance to state, individually.

MCC's Tyler Groves was the individual section champion, shooting a 77 on the second day of the tournament to finish with a 161.

For the girls, MCC won the team title, shooting a two-day score of 805. MCC's Abby Hamman was the individual section champion, shooting a 90 on the second day of the tournament to finish with a two-day score of 172.

WWG's Brittany Erickson shot a second-day score of 107, giving her a two-day total of 207. That was good enough to qualify her for the state tournament. However, Erickson had a previous commitment during the state tournament, and as a result withdrew from the tournament. Halle Steen shot a 112 on the second day of the tournament, finishing with an overall score of 225.

Red Rock Central senior Carley Baumann scored a 114 on the second day of the tournament, finishing with a two-day score of 217. Abby Meier shot a 118 on the second day of the tournament, finishing with a two-day score of 231.
