Luverne 41-20 = 61
Windom 34-39 = 73

The Windom Eagles stormed back from a 13-point first half rally Saturday, taking control in the second half to claim a 73-61 win over Luverne in the Section 3AA playoffs at Windom.

The Eagles trailed by as many as 13 in the first half but began to rally late in the half. A lay-up by Luke Gilbertson just before the horn cut the deficit to seven.

The Eagles then started the second half strong on defense with steals on three straight Luverne possessions. Offensively, senior Wyatt Minion took over the game in the second half for the Eagles, scoring 18 of his game-high 22 points.

Minion was also the focal point on defense, holding Luverne's Cole Claussen to four points in the game. Claussen had scored 67 points in two games against the Eagles earlier in the season.

The Eagles outscored Luverne 39-20 in the second half for the win.

In addition to Minion's 22 points, Gilbertson scored 13. Kobe Lovell and Chase Maricle each added 10 in the win.

HBC 36-38 = 74
WWG 45-50 = 95

Westbrook-Walnut Grove's senior backcourt was dominant Saturday as the Chargers claimed a 95-74 win over Hills-Beaver Creek in the Section 3A playoffs at Worthington.

The Chargers held a nine-point halftime lead behind Tyson Elzenga and Anthony Ross. Elzenga scored 17 first-half points while Ross had 12 in the first half.

In the second half, WWG maintained a double-digit lead, pulling away by going 20-of-27 from the free throw line in the second half.

Late in the game, HBC junior Preston Wilhelmi scored the 1,000th point of his career on a free throw. The Chargers held Wilhelmi to three first-half points, but Wilhelmi finished with 21 points in the game.

Four Chargers scored in double-figures, led by a career-high 31 points from Elzenga. Ross added 24 points, Kyle Kuehl scored 14 and Matt Deprez finished with 11.

RRC 16-24 = 40
MCC 21-25 = 46

Red Rock Central went on a furious second-half rally to take the lead, but Murray County Central closed the game strong, claiming a 46-40 win in the Section 3A playoffs Saturday in Worthington.

The Falcons trailed by five at halftime but went on an 11-0 run to take a 27-25 lead. The game was tied at 34-34 with five minutes to go, but MCC closed the game with a 12-6 run, hitting 10-of-13 from the free throw line in the second half.
