Luverne 31-32 = 62 Windom 21-30 = 51 The Windom girls basketball team mounted a second half rally Tuesday night, but Luverne closed the game strong to grab a 62-51 win over the Eagles at Windom.
Luverne held a 10-point lead at halftime. The Eagles battled back, trimming the deficit to four points before the Cardinals began to pull away late.
Autumn Hauge led the Eagles with 18 points. Maurissa Isaacs added 13 points and Delaney Smith scored 10 for the Eagles.
MLA 20-14-04 = 38 RRC 20-14-07 = 41 Mt. Lake Area was able to force overtime, but Red Rock Central's Haley Simonson scored four points late in overtime to give the Falcons a 41-38 victory over the Wolverines Tuesday in Lamberton.
MLA trailed by three with a minute to play, but Jewel Soutthivong drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 34-34. The Wolverines had a chance to win at the buzzer, but a three-point try rattled out.
In overtime, RRC's Steph Amsden canned a three-pointer and Simonson hit a bucket and two-of-four free throws. Both teams struggled from the line in overtime, as RRC went 2-of-9 from the line in overtime. MLA was 4-of-10 in overtime, scoring all its points in overtime at the free throw line.
Simonson led RRC with 25 points, adding nine rebounds. Vanessa Kedl had 11 rebounds and Kaitlyn Rindfleisch grabbed 10 boards.
Margo Stoesz led MLA with 11 points. Jenneel Rodney added 10 points in the loss.
WWG 28-23 = 51 Ellsworth 19-29 = 48 Westbrook-Walnut Grove staked itself to a lead, then withstood a second-half surge to claim a 51-48 victory at Ellsworth Tuesday.
WWG raced to a nine-point halftime advantage and had a strong night on the boards, pulling down 41 rebounds as a team.
Bethany Byers led the Chargers with a career-high 20 points. Camryn Bunting added 10 points and 14 rebounds. Brittany Erickson chipped in 10 points.
