Windom 20-19-16 = 0 TMB 25-25-25 = 3 Extended scoring runs in each set propelled top-seeded Tracy-Milroy-Balaton to a 3-0 sweep over the Windom Eagle volleyball team Thursday in the Section 3A South finals, played at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
Windom started the match strong, scoring the first three points and eventually holding a 7-4 lead, but TMB scored 12 of the next 13 points, building a 16-8 lead.
The Eagles battled back, scoring 10 of the next 12 points to tie the set at 20-20, but five straight points from the Panthers closed out the set 25-20.
In the second set, the Eagles and Panthers traded points early before TMB used a five-point run to lead 9-4.
The Eagles again battled back, eventually tying the set at 14-14, but TMB scored four straight points and eventually let 19-15 before scoring six of the final 10 points for a 25-19 win.
In the third set, the teams again traded points early, but TMB used a four-point run to build a 14-7 lead. TMB then stretched the lead to 19-9 before closing out the set 25-16.
Porsha Porath led the Eagles with 19 kills. Paige Pigman fired four ace serves. Maurissa Isaacs had five kills and five solo blocks. Katelyn Nichols finished with five kills. Becca Hacker had 20 set assists. Emily Steen finished with eight digs.
