Paul Metcalf Invitational The Windom Eagle boys placed seventh while the girls ran incomplete Wednesday morning at the inaugural Paul Metcalf Invitational, held in Mt. Lake.
Windom's boys finished with 160 team points. Worthington won the team title with 48 points. Mt. Lake Area finished third with 80 points.
Windom's girls ran incomplete while MLA finished 11th with 265 points. Fairmont won the team title with 47 points.
Individually, the star of the day on the boys' side was MLA senior Nathan Runck. Runck, a senior at Red Rock Central High School competing in cross country for the first time, finished his first 5,000-meter race at the front of the pack, winning with a time of 16:48. Fellow Wolverine newcomer Dalton Piotter added an eighth-place time of 17:57 while Ryan Blomgren placed 11th (18:20).
Windom's boys were led by freshman Cameron Alm, who finished 13th (18:23). Patrick Green placed 18th (18:34) and Daniel Green finished 33rd (19:20).
For the girls, the top finisher from the immediate area was Windom freshman Gracie Bucher, who turned in a 15th-place time of 21:52. Jadyn Wormstadt took 40th (24:13), followed by Eliana Tade in 44th (24:29) and Jordyn Alm in 51st (25:49).
MLA was paced by Chloe Klassen's 47th-place time of 24:58. Anika Fast finished 59th (26:45) and Aura Spry placed 68th (27:50).
