Legion blanks HLO

Despite missing several players for the school's Washington, D.C. trip, the Windom Legion Post 206 baseball team claimed a 4-0 shutout win over Heron Lake-Okabena Thursday at Island Park.

Post 206 scored in the bottom of the first. Zach Wormstadt led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Kade Sammons single.

Windom stretched the lead with a two-run fourth. Kobe Lovell scored when Chase Maricle reached on an error. Austin Doorenbos added an RBI single.

In the sixth, Maricle singled and advanced on a fielding error. Brandon Sanow then lofted an RBI sacrifice fly for the game's final run.

Wormstadt and Luke Gilbertson each had two hits for Post 206.

Lovell earned the complete-game shutout win, holding HLO to three hits. He walked one and struck out eight.
