MLA boys, WWG/RRC girls third at Red Rock Conference Meet

Red Rock Conference Meet
Mt. Lake Area's boys and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central's girls were third at the Red Rock Conference track meet, held Thursday in Slayton.

The MLA boys finished with 102 points, just a half-point out of second place. WWG/RRC placed fifth with 57½ points. Murray County Central won the team title with 172½ points.

For the girls, WWG/RRC scored 89 points. MLA was sixth with 62 points. Southwest Christian-Edgerton won the team title with 191 points.

Individually for MLA's boys, Hunter Dahna grabbed the day's lone win, taking first in the shot put (42-6). Reynaldo Capetillo placed second in the 200 (23.88) and 400 (52.89). Michael Watkins was third in the discus (111-9). Kris Menken was third in the high jump (5-6) and Sam Paulson took third in the triple jump (36-8½). Tommy Kraemer was fourth in the 800 (2:23.59). Ruben Fentanez finished fourth in the shot put (40-5½). MLA's team of A.J. Vongsy, Menken, Paulson and Capetillo placed second in the 4x200 relay (1:40.29).

For MLA's girls, Emily Jahnke led the way, placing second in the 100 hurdles (17.59) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (52.34). Jenneel Rodney was second in the shot put (33-3½). Liana Blomgren placed third in the 1,600 (6:01.17). Marta Stoesz finished fourth in the high jump (4-6). Saige Wall placed fourth in the shot put (30-9½).

WWG/RRC's girls were led by Ramsey Piotter, who was first in the triple jump (32-3) and second in the 300 hurdles (51.75). Rachel Kedl added a win in the high jump (5-0) and placed fourth in the 100 dash (13.76). Vanessa Kedl placed third in the high jump (4-6). Bonnie Imker finished third in the pole vault (7-0). Camryn Bunting finished third in the 100 hurdles (17.66). Hannah Stevenson finished fourth in the triple jump (30-7). WWG/RRC's team of Vanessa Kedl, Stevenson, Stephanie Amsden and Rachel Kedl placed second in the 4x100 relay (56.63).

WWG/RRC's boys were led by Koua Vang, who won the pole vault (10-6). Dalton Piotter finished second in the 3,200 (10:49.61) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:05.44). Kegan Zimmerman placed fourth in the 400 (56.81).
