Eagles top Trojans; Falcons clinch conference title

The Windom Eagle baseball team built an early lead and withstood a late rally to defeat Worthington 4-3 at Island Park.
The Eagles jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Alex Borsgard and Noah Kloss had back-to-back RBI singles and Eric Pfeffer hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
In the fourth, the Eagles built the lead to 4-1 when Borsgard singled and scored when Hunter Voxland reached on an error.
Worthington answered with a run in the top of the fifth, then pulled to within 4-3 in the seventh on an RBI triple before a groundout ended the threat and the game.
Borsgard and Kloss each had two hits in the win for the Eagles.
Kloss picked up the pitching win, working the first four innings. Luke Gilbertson got the final out of the game for a save.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove clinched the outright Red Rock Conference title Tuesday with a 9-2 win over Murray County Central at Slayton.
The Falcons jumped to an early lead behind a two-run Trevor Pederson single. The Falcons added a run in the second on a Cole Pankonin RBI single.
The Falcons put the game away in the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch. Jordan Martius was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Mitchell Willhite drew a bases-loaded walk.
Skylar Reddemann added an RBI grounder in the sixth and Willhite had an RBI single.
Pederson had three hits and two RBI in the win. Willhite added a pair of hits and two RBI.
Taylor Bunting picked up the pitching win, working the first 5-2/3 innings. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey picked up a doubleheader split Tuesday with Edgerton-Southwest Christian at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines won the opener 13-1, blowing the game open in the top of the fifth inning with 10 runs.
Sam Grev hit a home run for the Wolverines in the win. Abe Stoesz had three hits and Austin Windschitl had two hits.
Dylan Hillesheim picked up the pitching win, allowing four hits and fanning eight.
In the nightcap, ESWC pitcher Jaiden Bloemendaal held the Wolverines to two hits in a 3-0 Dutchmen win.
Jacob Suess and Regan Syverson had the lone hits for the Wolverines.
