Eagle fastpitch sweeps Huskies

The Windom Eagle fastpitch team battled from behind in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday, earning a rare twin bill sweep over Jackson County Central at Jackson.

The Eagles controlled the opener, winning 8-0 before rallying for a 9-8 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Eagles jumped to an early lead. Halle Jackson hit a two-run double and Ellie Maricle was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Maurissa Isaacs added an RBI double in the second inning.

The Eagles put the game away with a four-run fifth inning. Shelby Erickson lined an RBI single up the middle and Jordyn Alm smashed a three-run double.

Alm led the Eagles with three hits and three RBI in the win. Isaacs and Jackson had two hits each.

Maricle pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout, striking out six without a walk.

In the nightcap, the Eagles rallied to tie the game at 4-4 with a four-run fifth inning. Alm started the rally with an RBI double, Isaacs hit an RBI single and Reegan Elder hit a two-run single.

JCC scored three runs in the top of the sixth, but the Eagles answered. Isaacs hit an RBI single and Elder lined a two-run double, tying the game at 7-7.

The Huskies regained the lead in the top of the seventh, but Windom rallied for a walk-off win. Sydney Erickson hit a game-tying RBI single and Isaacs plated the winning run with a double.

Sydney Erickson had four hits in the win for the Eagles. Elder had three hits and four RBI while Isaacs had three hits and three RBI. Alm added three hits.

Jackson picked up the pitching victory, working the final two innings in relief.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey had the big bats rolling early in the game Tuesday, building a 6-0 lead and holding on late for a 6-3 win over Heron Lake-Okabena at Okabena.

The Wolverines plated a single run in the top of the first on a Margo Stoesz RBI single. MLAC added a pair of runs in the second on RBI singles from Jordan Boldt and Taylor Naas.

In the third, Hailey Pidde lined an RBI single. Then, in the fourth, MLAC pushed the lead to 6-0 on a fielding error and a Riley Tollefson RBI single.

Stoesz led the Wolverines with three hits in the win. Boldt, Naas and Pidde each had two hits in the win.

Molly Carnell tossed a complete game to pick up the win, allowing seven hits and striking out six.

RRC/WWG 002 111 31 = 9-10-4

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, then scored on an error in the eighth for a walk-off 9-8 win over Adrian Area Tuesday in Sanborn.

Pinch runner Theresa Merrick raced home with the game-ending run on a Dragon error in the bottom of the eighth.

Rachel Kedl helped spark the Falcon rally with two hits and four RBI in the win. Taylor Price had three hits and an RBI and Kaitlyn Rindfleisch added a pair of hits.

Hannah Stevenson picked up the pitching win, scattering eight hits and striking out 11.
