Windom 200 000 03 = 5-4-2 Luverne 010 010 00 = 2-4-3 The Windom Eagles went to extra innings for the second straight game Tuesday, only with a better result. The Eagles plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning to claim a 5-2 win at Luverne.
Windom opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning. Kobe Lovell lined an RBI single and Devin Homer plated a run with a groundout.
The Cardinals battled back with single runs in the second and fifth innings, but the Eagles were able to strand Cardinals in scoring position in four of the first five innings.
In the top of the eighth, Alex Borsgard reached on an error and Eric Pfeffer's single put runners on the corners with no outs. Noah Kloss drove in a run on a fielder's choice grounder. After an error and a walk loaded the bases with two outs, Hunter Voxland gave the Eagles cushion with a two-run single.
Luke Gilbertson retired the Cardinals in order in the bottom of the eighth, closing out the win.
Voxland, Pfeffer, Lovell and Gilbertson had the lone Eagle hits in the win.
Gilbertson pitched the final 3-1/3 innings to earn the pitching victory.

The Wolverine offense hammered out 11 hits. The defense was sharp, committing only one error. And Wolverine pitchers held the Wildcats to two hits and three walks.
The Wolverines started the game with a first inning two-run double from Sam Grev, then added a run in the third on a Levi Stoesz RBI single.
In the fourth, Dylan Hillesheim laced a two-run double. Stoesz added an RBI single in the sixth.
Stoesz led the offense with three hits in the win. Hillesheim, Brett Willaby and Jacob Suess had two hits each.
Stoesz earned the pitching win, working the first six innings. He allowed two hits, walked three and struck out four.
RRC/WWG 001 010 0 = 2-4-1 Adrian 000 030 x = 3-5-2 Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove took its first loss of the season Tuesday, falling 3-2 at Adrian.
The Falcons held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Adrian rallied with three runs, taking the lead on a two-run double.
Cole Pankonin had two hits in the loss for the Falcons. Taylor Bunting pitched a complete game, taking the loss.
