Windom 102 010 000 000 = 4-5-4 Pipestone 100 021 000 001 = 5-10-2 The Windom Eagle baseball team opened Big South Conference play in rough fashion Thursday, losing a 4-1 lead and eventually losing 5-4 to Pipestone in 12 innings.
The Eagles jumped to an early lead. In the top of the first, Eric Pfeffer was hit by a pitch and eventually came around to score when Luke Gilbertson reached on an error.
The Eagles added a pair of runs in the third, scoring on an error and a balk.
Then, in the fifth, the Eagles stretched the lead to 4-1 on a Kobe Lovell RBI single.
But Pipestone battled back, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, then tying the game in the sixth.
The game stayed tied until the bottom of the 12th, when a single, hit batter and intentional walk loaded the bases with no outs. Mitchel Carson beat the throw him on a fielder's choice grounder, ending the game.
Lovell had two of the Eagles' five hits in the loss.
Noah Kloss worked the final two innings in relief to take the loss.

In the opener, the Falcons rallied from an early 2-1 deficit for the win. RRC/WWG scored in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Cole Pankonin.
In the fourth, RRC/WWG tied the game on a Trevor Pederson single. Then, in the top of the seventh, Pederson led off with a single, and pinch-runner Dawson Sorenson scored on a double by Taylor Bunting.
Pederson had two of the Falcons' three hits in the game.
Bunting worked the final two innings of relief to pick up the pitching win.
In the nightcap, the Falcons took command early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first to spark the win.
Pankonin laced a two-run double, Pederson added an RBI single and Cole Jackson had an RBI double in the first inning, staking the Falcons to an early 4-0 lead.
RRC/WWG added single runs in the second and third and two runs in the sixth.
Pederson and Evan Blomgren each had two hits for RRC/WWG. All but one starter for the Falcons had at least one hit.
Austin Irlbeck picked up the pitching win, working the first five innings.
MLAC 013 000 = 4-8-0 Adrian 100 535 = 14-13-0 Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey saw an early lead slip away Thursday as the Wolverines fell 14-4 at Adrian.
MLAC tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second when Jacob Suess scored on a wild pitch.
Then, in the top of the third, MLAC took a 4-1 lead when Sam Grev smashed a three-run home run.
But the Dragons answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking the lead for good. Adrian added three in the fifth, then ended the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Suess led the Wolverines with two hits in the loss.
Zach Spinks worked three innings in relief to take the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out one.
