Windom 36-42 = 78 Luverne 39-33 = 72 The Windom Eagle boys basketball game was hot from the field and clamped down on defense down the stretch, rallying for a 78-72 victory at Luverne Thursday night.
The Eagles trailed by three at halftime despite shooting 55% from the field for the half. Luverne drained six three-point buckets in the first half to take the lead.
But the Eagles rallied early in the second half by slashing their way to the basket. Nathan Remmers and Collin Lovell each scored 13 points in the second half while Jacob Gotto added 10 second half points.
Meanwhile, the Eagles were able to bottle up the Cardinals' ability to hit from the outside. Luverne shot 30% from the field in the second half, compared to 52% for the half for the Eagles. Luverne was 28% on three-point shots in the second half.
Remmers led the Eagles with 23 points in the win. Lovell added 10 and Gotto finished with 16.
