The Windom Area girls hockey team didn't come away with a victory Friday night, but they gave Fairmont all it wanted in a 4-1 loss at the Windom Arena.
Windom's only goal of the game on an unassisted tally from Alexis Jellema-Baerg, who scored 4:48 into the second period to tie the game.
However, Fairmont answered with two power play goals before the period ended and tacked on a fourth goal in the third period.
"The girls played an outstanding game," said Windom Area Coach Dean Drahota. "Both power play goals were on scrums in front of the net that (goaltender) Emily Steen had covered, but they were able to break it free and poke it in.
"Emily played an outstanding game in net for us. All the girls skated extremely hard. The effort is improving and they are starting to see that hard work and good work ethic in practice pay off in games."
