The West Fork of the Des Moines River in Windom remains above flood stage as of Thursday morning, with a river flood warning remaining in effect.
As of 11 a.m., the river level was recorded at 19.78 feet. Flood stage is at 19 feet, meaning there is minor flooding being seen in areas around the river.
The river level has remained fairly steady and has not receded much since the river went above flood stage on Saturday. The river briefly crested at just over 20 feet on Tuesday afternoon.
Of immediate concern is the area around Island Park, particularly the Island Park football field. While water has not seeped onto the field as of Thursday morning, it has been seen close to the fence behind the south end zone.
Windom Area High School Activities Director Dane Nielsen stated on Twitter Thursday morning that some minor modifications may be needed for the facility to host Friday's homecoming football game at Island Park against Redwood Valley, but he indicated that the game will be played as scheduled.
