The Windom Area High School chapter of the FFA held its annual awards banquet Friday evening in the WAHS Commons.
A number of the chapter's members were honored during the banquet which included a brief recap of the annual corn drive. The drive provided financial support for Camp Courage and also provided assistance to the local chapter for chapter projects and expenses associated with attending state and national conventions.
The local chapter also recognized Foundation sponsors who donated anywhere from up to $50 to over $200.
Chapter members reviewed the 2016-17 FFA year through an oral reflection and a PowerPoint photo presentation.
FFA'er Dakota Scott shared with the audience the national championship the food science team captured at the FFA National Convention in October, then its trip to Atlanta, Ga., for the food expo. The all-expenses paid Georgia trip was a reward for winning the national title in food science.
Local chapter members also were recognized for their success in Supervised Agricultural Experience projects. Earning gold honors were Dakota Scott, Olivia Smith, Hallie Will, Thomas Sell and Ethan Johnson.
The Chapter's Honorary Degree went to Justin Espenson, who worked with the chapter's national champion food science team prior to the team's competition at the national convention.
Discovery, Greenhand and Chapter degrees were awarded to members and Ariel Simon was recognized for earning her State degree.
The awards banquet concluded with the installation of new officers for the 2017-18 school year. Ethan Johnson was re-elected chapter president.
