Windom MathMasters teams compete at Marshall
Five teams of sixth-graders recently competed in the 2017 MathMasters regional meet at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
Windom's teams finished 14th to 25th in the 26 team competition. A total of 133 individuals participated.
Individually, Windom had several outstanding individuals in the event. In the Facts competition, Kole Curry finished fourth overall, Henry Erickson finished 10th and Makenna McNamara finished 12th.
McNamara also set a school record by correctly solving 8 of 8 story problems in the third round of competition.
Teamwise, Windom's best finish came from the Gold team of Montgomery Byam, Mackenzie Doorenbos, Elliot Espenson, Makenna McNamara and Abbi Zieske, which finished 14th.
Finishing one place behind in 15th was the Windom White team of Taylor Caldwell, Jacob Green, Abbigail Grunewald, Dmitri Henderson and Connor McCutcheon.
The Eagles team of Cooper Bramstedt, Brooklyn Flaherty, Maddy Givens, Jose Rodas and Chris Rodriguez finished 22nd.
The Pride team of Carter Allen, Kole Curry, Henry Erickson, Abraham McKibbin and Trey Neitzel finished 23rd. The Blue team of Miranda Cory, Kylee Johnson, Amee Pena, Damion Pohlman and Aviana Watson finished 25th.
The MathMasters of Minnesota competition included a 75-question Facts test and order of operation.
