Fundraiser donates dollars, toy to Shriner Children's Hospital

When Scentsy featured "Sebastian, the Super Hero Scentsy Buddy" in its spring catalog, Diane Kruger of Windom got an idea.

Kruger, an independent Scentsy consultant, has set a goal to sell 200 "Sebastians" in April through what she is calling a "Buddy Drive Fundraiser." For each Sebastian sold, Scentsy donates $8 to the Shriner Children's Hospital national organization.

"In every catalog season, Scentsy has a charitable cause product in their catalog," Kruger explains. "Last fall/winter, it was a wax warmer which also benefitted Shriner Children's Hospital.

"This catalog, it's the Love Heals warmer and Sebastian, the Super Hero buddy."

But she is hoping those who buy the stuffed teddy bear will go a step further. She is encouraging those who buy the super hero teddy bear to donate the stuffed toy back to the fundraiser.

"For this fundraiser, people can buy Sebastian and keep the buddy for a loved one," Kruger says. "But I'm also trying to sell them and have them donate the buddy back to the fundraiser and then at the end of April, I'll take whatever buddies have been donated, drive them up to the Cities and distribute them to children at the hospital."

Kruger notes that there are area residents who currently have loved ones at the hospital.

The Sebastian super hero bears are $35 each, plus tax. The stuffed toy also comes with a lifetime warranty, meaning that if a zipper fails or a seam tears, Scentsy will replace the buddy.

She also is selling the Love Heals warmers at the same price, with $8 of each warmer sale also going to Shriner Children's Hospital.

She's hoping to sell 200 of the super hero teddy bears by the end of April. However, she says the fundraiser will continue until the end of the catalog season, which runs through August.

Scentsy is a direct-sales fragrance company that specializes in fragrance and home decor.
