A bill co-authored by Rep. Rod Hamilton of Mt. Lake would spur the production of new and developing renewable fuels in Minnesota. The bill is making progress in House committees.
Hamilton's bill would provide three separate programs: A revolving loan fund program for renewable fuel equipment purchases. $15 million a year for biofuel producers who aren't corn-based. $15 million per year for renewable chemical producer payments (which would be per pound of production.
