grant to market fiber systems
The Windomnet board recently learned that Southwest Minnesota Broadband Services has applied for a $10,000 grant.
According to Dan Olsen, who serves as general manager for both Windomnet and SMBS, the SMBS applied for the Blandin grant as a joint project with local Economic Development Authorities. The funds would help market and promote fiber-to-the-premise.
Olsen said the goal of the project is to leverage the advantages of fiber-to-the-premise networks deployed by Windomnet and SMBS. Ultimately, the hope is that this marketing will spark economic development opportunities within the region.
