Commissioners OK retirement offer after closed meeting

Moments after finishing a 30-minute closed session, Cottonwood County commissioners voted unanimously to accept a jailer's retirement offer.

The commissioners' action gave Mary Magnus the opportunity to retire with full benefits, provided the county was notified by noon on Dec. 28. The motion also provided that there could be no chance for mediation or arbitration in the future.

Prior to closing the meeting, Chairman Norman Holmen noted that the commissioners had received notice of litigation on this matter. The board also discussed a letter from the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation in connection with this matter.
