BREAKING NEWS: Historic Kimball Korner tavern to close

It's been quite a 78-year run for the historic Kimball Korner tavern, but owner Larry Allgood is resigned to the fact that its days are numbered.

Plans are for the landmark bar and grill, located 17 miles southeast of Windom, to be replaced by part of a realigned county road.

"The end of December will be my last day," Allgood said. "They are going to change the curve in the road, widen it, and they will take out the two short pieces of gravel that are here.

"I guess they want traffic to come into the middle of the curve, so you can see both ways. It's for safety."
