County Cheer Box ready to accept donations
Organizers of the Christmas Cheer Box, Cottonwood County's annual Christmas gift collection program, are now accepting donations through Dec. 4.
The program, sponsored by Windom Women of Today and the Mt. Lake Police Department, is accepting new unwrapped toys, hats, mittens, clothing, books or other items that would be appropriate for children 18 years and younger.
Cash donations may be left at any bank that has a Christmas dropoff, or mailed to: Christmas Cheer Box, c/o Women of Today, P.O. Box 222, Windom, MN 56101.
Christmas Cheer Box collection sites include:
Windom: Citizen Publishing Company (donations picked up Dec. 8), Loopy's, Senior Citizen Center, Schwalbach Ace Hardware, Shopko Hometown, Bank Midwest, Windom Area Chamber of Commerce, Hardee's, Bank of the West, Runnings, Dollar General, United Prairie Bank, Fulda Area Credit Union, Good Samaritan Society, McDonald's and Hy-Vee.
Westbrook: Lichty Drug, Bank Midwest.
Storden: First Security State Bank.
Jeffers: State Bank of Jeffers.
Mt. Lake: Country Pride, Peterson Thrifty White, Care & Share/Ten Thousand Villages, United Prairie Bank and Mt. Lake City Hall.
For families seeking gifts for their children, applications must be made by Friday, Nov. 30.
Applications are available at the following locations: Cottonwood County Family Services, Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health Service, Windom Area Sharing Center, Windom Area Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Lake City Hall and all Cottonwood County area churches.
Completed applications can be mailed to the same address as cash donations.
