Taste of Home kicks off at 4 p.m. Thursday

A delicious array of vendors and activities awaits
folks who take in Thursday's Taste of Home Cooking event

Array of vendors

Thursday's event, which is sponsored by Citizen Publishing

vendors on hand. While receiving their special
bag of "goodies" and samples, guests will immediately
receive a key "vendor sheet." Once they get each of the vendors to sign their sheet, they will be entered in
a drawing for $50 in Chamber Bucks.
If you don't win that prize, there will be other opportunities. Throughout the night
door prizes will be given away, including: Toro products, gift certificates, national sponsor giveaways, baskets and food is made by culinary specialist Karen Davis at Thursday's cooking show. Early arrivers also will
have the first chance to try the Hy-Vee meal featuring a
wrap, fruit cup, cookie and
beverage for $5. The VIP experience begins at 5:15 p.m. It includes a wine/cheese/fruit and appetizer, along with a meet-and-greet with Davis and a demonstration
by Hy-Vee dietitian Katie Wilhelmi.
Also, the Community Center will have a full bar available.

The show

The cooking show is set to begin at 7 p.m. and is expected
to run just over two hours. Throughout the show, Davis
will be up front demonstrating different cooking techniques
and tips. Audience members will be able to watch
from overhead on two different large screens in the Community Center.
Davis expects to make 10 dishes that evening. Her recipe
list includes such tasty dishes as: light chocolate
chunk coffee cake, veggie lasagna, sausage stuffed mushrooms
and pineapple-cashew chicken salad.
When not on the road traveling for Taste of Home Cooking
