9/27/2012 3:07:00 PM Windom Kiwanis Club announces key changes
The Windom Kiwanis Club is making some major changes to the organization, changes that will dramatically reduce membership costs and also involve moving the location of meetings.
As of Nov. 8, the Windom Kiwanis Club will begin meeting each Thursday at the the back meeting room of the River City Eatery, an area known as the River City Meetery. Under the new change, Kiwanis memberships will drop from over $300 to a flat membership fee of $100.
The membership cost reduction is based on the fact that new rates will no longer include up-front food costs for the year. Rather, members will pay for their meals each time they attend a meeting. In fact, members will be able to call River City Eatery on the day of the meeting and pre-order their lunches so their food is ready when they arrive.
Under the new plan, business memberships are available (also for $100), allowing businesses to send a different business representative to Kiwanis each Thursday.
Other aspects of Kiwanis will remain the same. The organization will continue its tradition of having plenty of social time, solid guest speakers and strong support for countless youth-based groups and organizations.
For information on how to join, contact Kiwanis membership committee representatives Tom Christensen (831-2027) or Rahn Larson (831-3455).
