Area harvest is back in business, full steam ahead

The growl of combines can be heard in all corners of Cottonwood County these days, as the soybean harvest is moving forward at a crisp pace.

Farmers put in a full day of combining yesterday and it appears the weather will cooperate for another big harvest day today. There is a chance of rain on Saturday, so farmers will likely try to make a big dent in the harvest today and Saturday morning.

Soybean yields, locally, have been reportedly anywhwere from the upper 50-bushel-per-acre range to the lower 60s. There have been reports of some corn being harvested as well, but it's a little early to get solid average corn yield estimates.

Check future editions of the Cottonwood County Citizen and Citizen eEdition for updates on the local harvest situation.
