The Windom Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving a burglary that occurred in Windom yesterday.
Missing from a home in southwest Windom are five pistols and jewelry with a total value of $4,825. The homeowner reported the burglary at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday and the burglary is believed to have occurred around mid-morning that day, according to police.
There was no sign of forced entry and the homeowners were not home at the time of the burglary, according to Police Chief Scott Peterson.
"We have no suspects at this point," Peterson said. "We are asking for the public's help. If anyone knows anything about this matter, we would encourage them to call the Windom Police Department at 831-6134."
Peterson said it is believed that the burglar, or burglars, carried the items out of the house in a pillow case.
The guns missing from the home include a Colt .45 revolver, Ruger Blackhawk .357 magnum, Springfield 1911 .45 caliber pistol, H&R Sportsman double-action .22 pistol and a French Police .32 caliber autoloader.
Another option for reporting the crime is contacting Minnesota Crimestoppers via text. Crimestoppers can then get the information to police officers anonymously.
