9/21/2013 9:13:00 PM King Jacob, Queen Emily to reign over Windom homecoming
Jacob Gotto and Emily Axford were crowned Windom homecoming king and queen Saturday night.
Seniors Emily Axford and Jacob Gotto were crowned queen and king at Windom's homecoming coronation Saturday night in the Windom Area Middle High School Gold Gym.
Queen Emily was handed an extra-large artificial rose to signify her crowning after four candidates had been eliminated and only two remained. King Jacob received an extra-large Queen of Hearts playing card signaling his crowning as homecoming king.
Other queen candidates included Chelsey Fast, Kelsey Hanefeld, Rachel Sorensen, Megan Theesfeld and Maitland Vollan.
Other king candidates included Zach Bartosh, Tanner Diemer, Andrew Larson, Nick Raverty and Bryton Syverson.
Saturday night's coronation kicked off a variety of homecoming activities that include dress-up days for each day of the week as well as a bonfire on Wednesday night at Island Park. Homecoming week concludes with the homecoming football game against Redwood Valley Friday night at Island Park followed by the homecoming dance in the high school commons.
