Windom 25-25-25 = 3
MLA 20-16-17 = 0

After a shaky start in the first set, the Windom Eagle volleyball team found its rhythm from the service line and on offense, rallying to win the first set and eventually sweep Mt. Lake Area 3-0 Thursday in a steamy gym in Mt. Lake.

Hot weather conditions and no air conditioning made for humid conditions in the gym, prompting the match officials to allow teams an official's time out at various points in the match.

MLA started the first game strong, capitalizing on a string of Eagle service errors to build a 15-10 lead. But Windom was able to chip into the lead, scoring 15 of the final 20 points of the set for the win.

MLA then jumped to the early lead in the second set before Windom again battled back, tying the game at 8-8 and pulling away late.

The Eagles then took control early in the third set, establishing a comfortable lead early. MLA closed the gap at the end of the set before the Eagles were able to finish off the match.

Kelsey Hanefeld led the Eagles, going 16-of-17 from the service line with four aces. She added a team-high eight kills.

Rachel Sorensen was 12-of-13 serving with three aces and had four kills. Alyssa Fast was 8-of-9 serving with two aces and four kills. Porsha Porath finished with seven kills and a team-high three solo blocks. Miki Bolin handed out 18 set assists. Jasmine Carlson had a team-high 12 digs.

Carmen Syverson and Maggie Wahdan each had five kills for the Wolverines. Syverson added five blocks. Kailee Wolle was 11-of-13 serving with three aces. Rachel Dukes and Signey Stoesz each had seven set assists. Mikayla Falk tallied 12 digs.
