The stubborn winter that Southwest Minnesota has seen this year is prompting spring sports teams to put the start of the season on hold.
The Windom fastpitch softball team had previously postponed its season-opening game April 2 against St. James to May 13. The Eagles' scheduled game on April 4 against Red Rock Central is also now likely moved to April 8. The RRC activity website is stating that change.
The Mt. Lake Area baseball team's first two games have been moved. The Wolverines were slated to play Jackson County Central Monday. That game will now be April 25. MLA's game against Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman has been moved from April 5 to April 26.
The Mt. Lake Area golf team's first meet at Madelia has been moved from April 4 to April 18.
The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball opener Monday against Comfrey-Cedar Mountain and Tuesday's scheduled game with Minneota have both been postponed.
The RRC fastpitch team's season-opening game Monday against Springfield has been postponed.
The RRC golf team's scheduled meet with Southwestern United Tuesday has been postponed.
And the WWG/RRC track team's scheduled meet Tuesday at Fairmont has been cancelled.
