Cobras win section opener
Bobcats roll in opener
Bobcats 75, Trojans 3
Wabasso-Red Rock Central opened the Section 3A team tournament with a commanding 75-3 win over Ortonville at Wabasso.

The Bobcats won falls at seven of the first eight weights and finished with 10 falls and two forfeit wins.

Earning falls for the Bobcats were Mitchell Fulton (106), Justin Frank (113), Spencer Jenniges (120), Josh Altermatt (126), Derek Christians (132), Dominic Ourada (145), Tanner Rohlik (152), Blake Altermatt (170), Jordan Schroepfer (195) and Brian Hagberg (220). Mitchell Schroepfer (160) added a decision win and the Bobcats won two forfeits.

WRRC advances to the Section 3A Final Four Saturday at Benson, where the Bobcats will face fifth-seeded Pipestone. Pipestone won a 29-26 decision over fourth-seeded Canby.

Cobras 41, Raiders 27
The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team opened the Section 4A team tournament Thursday with a 41-27 win over Norwood-Young America at Lake Crystal.

The Cobras got off to a fast start, winning two falls and a technical fall in the first four weights to take a 17-3 lead. Wyatt Stevens (106) and Jared Willaby (126) earned falls while Joe Fischenich (113) won a technical fall.

But NYA battled back, winning a decision and earning back-to-back pins to take an 18-17 lead over the Cobras after 145 pounds. But the Cobras answered, winning five consecutive weight classes to seal the victory before NYA won a decision and a fall in the last two weights.

Ben Matter started the Cobras' late run with a fall at 152. Andrew Larson won a decision at 160. The thriller of the night came at 170 when Gavin Mutz scored a reversal and near-fall in the final 10 seconds to claim an 8-6 come-from-behind win. Jake Junker (182) and Vince Johnson (195) followed with first-period falls.

The win moves the Cobras on to Saturday's Section 4A Final Four, which will be held at Norwood-Young America High School. The fourth-seeded Cobras will take on top-seeded Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area. The other semifinal features second-seeded Sibley East and third-seeded St. James Area.
