Fast Sprayers of rural Mt. Lake has reached a deal to build a 72,000 square foot building in North Windom Industrial Park this summer. That will make it the park's first occupant.
The industrial park is expected to be finished by late-summer with the exterior of the Fast Sprayers building completed by December.
Fast Sprayers, an international farm equipment supplier, builds pull-type field and liquid fertilizer applicators. The company was founded by Verlyn and Nancy Fast of rural Mt. Lake. Fast Sprayers has been based at the Fast's farm since the company's inception in 1990.
"This is a major step for us," Fast said. "One of the strengths of our business has been the pride that our employees take in workmanship of our product. A big advantage to building a new site locally is that along with the new jobs that will be added, we can keep our existing employees.
"We also like this situation because of the availability of the site and the fact that it has room for future expansion."
Among the operations moving to Windom are: automated painting, assembly and shipping. The fabrication and welding departments will stay at Fast's current production site. Fast expects the Windom site to employ 25 people in its first full year.
