11/13/2012 2:49:00 PM How to Succeed in Business debuts Thursday night
Windom Area High School's 2012 fall musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying takes the WAMHS Lecture Hall Theater stage Thursday night for the first of four performances that run through Saturday night.
The musical is staged in the early 1960s and focuses on young window washer J. Pierrepont Finch (Eli Yackel-Juleen) who desires to climb the corporate ladder of the Worldwide Wicket Company. The comedy follows his upward ascent as he closely follows the advice offered in a real book of the time, titled "How to Succeed in Business." Along the way, Finch butters up the boss, J.B. Bigley (Isaac Steele), battles the bosses's bumbling nephew, Bud Frump (Aaron Axford), and dodges the advances of ditsy blonde Heddy LaRue (Rachel Witt) before falling in love with young secretary Rosemary Pilkington (Emily Axford).
The show's director and musical director is Rachel Axford. Eugene Hanchett is assistant director and keyboard accompaniment. New set directors are Bob and Sandy Ruby.
Show times are 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m., Saturday matinee. Tickets are $7 each and available in the WAMHS office or at the door. As of Tuesday morning, limited seating remains for Thursday and Friday night shows, while many good seats remain for the Saturday afternoon matinee and some good seats are still available for the Saturday evening finale.
